David Lawlor

CTS-1st4sport, LTA Qualified Tutor

I started coaching in 2001 straight out of University having gained an honours degree in sports and exercise science. I soon realised that I wanted a career in tennis coaching and focused on improving my coaching skills and knowledge base. In 2006 I became Head Coach here at Harpenden. Continuing my development I passed Level 5 Master Club Coach Award in 2013.

I have great enthusiasm and drive to achieve the mission ‘Life Skills Through Sport’. Tennis builds core skills, transferable to many alternative environments, optimizing performance and creating a healthy outlook on life. Driving coaching delivery is my philosophy ‘creating an environment that is non-judgmental, and focused on hard work towards SMART process goals. Feedback is centered on effort, concentration, determination and decision making.

Aaron Meredith

LTA Senior Performance Licensed Coach, CCA qualified

I have been working full-time at Harpenden LTC since 1996. I enjoy coaching all types of people from mini players through to veterans at the Club.

Before joining Harpenden I worked at Batchwood Indoor Tennis Initiative Centre, St Albans, for five years gaining various tennis qualifications along the way.

I played for Herts as both a junior and senior and enjoy playing for the men’s teams at the Club.

Jaime Cotton

LTA Licensed Coach, CCA qualified

When my football team folded I decided to join the local tennis club. I spent the entire summer holidays playing tennis and at the age of 15 was entirely hooked. At the age of 18 I started my coaching career at Holly Park Junior Tennis Club in Crouch End. From there I gained more experience coaching at David Lloyd Milton Keynes then at David Lloyd Enfield. An opportunity to coach in Spain came my way and I spent eight months in Lew-Hoads, before returning to David Lloyd Enfield. I joined the team of coaches at Harpenden in January 2008.

I believe tennis is a simple game to learn which requires good application and hard work. I have a passion for coaching and playing which is apparent when you see me on court.

Tom Dyball

LTA Licensed Performance Coach

I joined Harpenden LTC when I was 10 years of age and spent the following years working as a Tennis Leader, building up my knowledge and experience. I have recently passed my LTA Performance Coach award.

I have great enthusiasm and determination to help all ages and abilities improve their tennis standard. I provide a constructive and fun environment from mini tennis through to the adult game, enabling progress through hard work and the will to keep improving.

Bridie Amos

MA (Hons), LTA Level 3 Licensed Coach

I joined Harpenden Tennis Club in 2000 and have been part of the coaching team since 2007. I deliver coaching programmes in a local school and at the club on a part-time basis.

Having played and competed at junior, university, club and county level, I decided to take up tennis coaching following a career change in 2006. I am a level 3 qualified LTA licensed coach. In addition I am currently Ladies 1st team Captain at Harpenden and regularly compete for club teams.

I work with both juniors and adults and am especially keen to help integrate juniors into senior teams/sections within the club. My particular passion is to encourage more girls to take up tennis and to keep playing, throughout their teens and adulthood, and to inspire a lifelong love of this fantastic game!
